Having approached my senior year pursuing a B.S. in Electrical Engineering, I set out to pioneer the development of a circuit simulator, driven by the thirst for knowledge, experience, and self-exploration. The creation of Circuit Solver was a culmination of my expertise in Electrical Engineering, with a vision to facilitate the academic journey of fellow students and impart understanding of circuits. Although Circuit Solver is not without imperfections and numerous optimization opportunities, it effectively simulates a wide array of linear circuits and a notable portion of smaller non-linear circuit designs.
Think of Circuit Solver as an interactive electronic circuit board where you can intuitively drag and place electrical components, configure sources, set up meters for data reading, and even analyze waveforms using an oscilloscope. While acknowledging the robust capabilities of SPICE tools like Multisim, LTSpice, and PSpice on PC platforms, Circuit Solver distinguishes itself by prioritizing portability and accessibility through optimization for mobile devices – making it a handy solution for enthusiasts seeking efficient circuit design tools.
Circuit Solver is engineered to validate fundamental principles such as Ohm's Law, Kirchhoff's current and voltage laws by constructing stable and efficient circuit models. Whether it's DC simulation involving matrix manipulation techniques like LU-Decomposition or transient simulation utilizing numerical integration for RLC circuits – the application provides a comprehensive platform for learning and experimentation.
In handling non-linear components like diodes, LEDs, and transistors, Circuit Solver employs a refined Newton-Raphson process alongside linear approximation methods to derive precise solutions through iterative refinement. The built-in oscilloscope feature enables users to visualize waveforms seamlessly by linking meters to the graph interface.
For enhanced utility, Circuit Solver facilitates the saving of schematics and circuits locally on devices, allowing users to access their designs anytime, anywhere. A versatile list of components ranging from resistors, capacitors, to various transistors, gates, diodes, switches, and specialized sources ensures a comprehensive toolkit for circuit analysis and design enthusiasts.
